Add 2 cups of diced cooked vegetables (peas, corn, carrots, beans, broccoli, etc.) and a chopped smoked sausage after the soup is pureed, or garnish the soup with a little sour cream, cooked, crumbled bacon, grated cheddar cheese, or chopped chives.
